In accordance with Article 167 of the General Code of Decentralised Local Authorities, the council, through deliberations, governs the affairs of the municipality and gives its opinion whenever required by laws and regulations or at the request of the State representative. Furthermore, it may express its views through resolutions on all matters of local interest, in particular those concerning the economic and social development of the municipality. The municipal council is kept informed of the progress of works and projects funded by the municipality or carried out with its participation. It must be consulted regarding the implementation, within the municipality’s territory, of any development or infrastructure project undertaken by the State, the region, any other local authority, or any public or private body.
